June Self-Love Diet Challenge

June’s Self-Love Diet writing prompt is a little different from our regular monthly writing prompts. Each January we host the 31-Day Self-Love Diet Writing Challenge, and this June we’re doing something similar.

Our June theme is Graduating into Self-Love. 

June is the month of graduations – kindergarten, 6th grade, 8th grade, high school, college. You graduated from school by studying, doing your homework assignments and taking tests. You practiced math, english, history and science, but you never were taught how to love yourself in school.

Like practicing math or writing, you can practice self-love. You can build your skills and learn how to use different tools to better equip your Self-Love Diet arsenal.

When a self-critical thought shows its face, you can notice it and choose to let it go; or you can notice it, confront it, replace your thought with an affirming one, apologize to yourself for thinking critically of yourself and commit to change. The 5-Step Process I outlined above (notice, confront, replace, apologize and commit) is just one Self-Love Diet tool you can learn and practice.

Reading a positive mantra each morning is a great Self-Love Diet practice. Listening to your body, and going to sleep when you’re tired is a great self-loving action. Starting a gratitude jar is a great way to positively alter your thoughts.

Like all writing prompts, you can write in your own self-love journal, share your responses on the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook page or submit your self-love writing to be published here on Self-Love Warrior.

What is the Challenge?

January’s Self-Love Diet Challenge was to write a self-love post every day during January. June’s Self-Love Diet Challenge is to focus on incorporating loving thoughts, feelings and actions into each day throughout June and to write a Facebook post about how you incorporated self-love into your day on the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook page.

Self-Love Diet Graduation Certificate

Just like you get a certificate when you graduate from school, if you write 12 Facebook posts on the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook page during this month, you will be emailed a Self-Love Diet Graduation Certificate for actively and consciously practicing self-love throughout June for the June Self-Love Diet Challenge.

You can write 12 Facebook posts 12 days in a row, or three days a week throughout June or any 12 days throughout June. Any 12 days throughout June works.

To Share How You Incorporated Self-Love into Your Day on the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook Page:

1. Go to the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook page.

2. Scroll down the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook page until you see the below image.

3. Where it says “What have you been up to?” – write about how you incorporated a loving thought, feeling or action into your day, and then click “Post.”

4. You can also upload a photo or video where it says, “Photo/Video.” If you started a gratitude jar, you can take a picture of your gratitude jar. If your self-love action was getting out in nature and going for a walk, you can upload a picture of your walking path. You can also upload a video, or put a YouTube link in the post, of you sharing how you incorporated self-love into your day.

The above photo is an example of a Facebook post I just published on the Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works Facebook page. Our Love Warrior Community intern, Lila, created that photo and posted it to the Self-Love Diet Facebook page a few days ago. I checked the Self-Love Diet Facebook page in the morning, and that was one of the first things I saw. That photo made a huge impact on my day. It helped frame my thoughts towards loving ones all day, and I had a great day.
