The first day of 2014. What better way than joining a powerful group blog created to help others as well as myself, find more self-love? I read and then re-read again the powerful paragraph in the writing prompts:
“Once we open our eyes to how self-love impacts us and realize where we are in our journey towards loving ourselves, we can then take deliberate actions to foster self-love and acceptance and to let go of self-hatred or self-critical thoughts.”
Today I fostered my own self-love by reminding myself that I am imperfect & that I am enough. How often we forget that we are all still learning constantly. We give so much understanding, patience, and kindness to children when they make mistakes because we know they have so much more to learn & we even often go out of our way to help them and boost their self-esteem. “It’s okay that you spilled your milk. Accidents happen. Let’s clean it up together.” However, we often forget to give the same courtesy to ourselves. Even as adults, there is so much to learn.
Finding acceptance inside for my imperfections & knowing that I really am enough – will help guide me to the self-love I need. I’m at the beginning of my journey – but I am hopeful that this will be the year of growth & change. Starting with this simple entry. I hope to read & appreciate all of your words throughout the 31 days of January.
