Steven’s Lesson Relearned
I’m relearning a lesson my nephew Steven taught me 7 years ago. The Self-Love Diet Tip #13 is: “Tell the people you love that you love them.”
I have a BIG family, so staying in touch with everyone is not always easy. Steven was one of many nephews of mine. When I found out he had brain cancer I began calling him. I hadn’t called him before that diagnosis. Those conversations were wonderful. Before he died I listened to his dreams and learned who he was beyond his role as my nephew. Since that time I’ve tried to stay in closer touch with my nephews and nieces.
Yesterday I found out that another family member has been diagnosed with cancer. We are now sharing fun texts and more frequent phone calls.
I’m reminded how tentative life can be, and how important it is to tell those we love that we love them. It is time well spent.
