To Selfie or Not

I’ve noticed that in the past few years I’ve taken far fewer pictures of myself. I didn’t know if it’s that I’m busy or I’ve outgrown the major “selfie” phase of my life or I didn’t want to be “that girl.” Going back through facebook and getting rid of old photos I realized it was because I didn’t need the validation anymore. Growing up in the era of social network so much of my high school and college years became about validation. Likes, comments, and people telling me how good I looked was really important. It’s still nice to be complimented but I don’t NEED it as much. I don’t sit around and take dozens of photos just to find that perfect one that will make me seem more attractive.

I now mostly have photos of events or a great new outfit. Me being silly or out with friends. The real reason why people should take photos. I’m not dissing the selfie, If you feel good and want to share it go for it! Flaunt your happiness but it’s another one of those times when you need to decide if it’s for you or for others.
