Self-Love Diet Tip #5: Replace Your Thoughts


The Self-Love Diet offers you a lifetime of loving thoughts, emotions, actions and relationships. But how do you begin?

Yesterday I went over step number two in the 5-Step Process, confronting your thoughts. Today I will go over step number three in the 5-Step Process, replace the thought.

Here are the 5 steps:

#1 Catch your thought.
#2 Confront your thought by asking, “Who says?”
#3 Replace the thought.
#4 Apologize to yourself.
#5 Commit to change.

I’ll go in depth on step three with you today. Once you have honed the first two skills of catching and confronting your thoughts, you are developing the ability to create your own reality. Now you are ready for step three:

Step Three: Replacing your thought:

By replacing critical thoughts with self affirming, loving thoughts you are actively choosing more positive emotions which result in more loving actions because they all work together. Here’s an example: Have you ever called yourself stupid or dumb for making a mistake, and  felt bad or guilty for mistaking that mistake? How would you feel if instead you told yourself: “It’s O.K. to be imperfect, I need to forgive myself and learn from it and move on.”?

When you replace a critical thought with a compassionate statement, you are practicing one of the basic Self-Love Diet action steps.
