Dark Night of the Soul

Sexy Quote

Dear Love Warrior Community,

I am so excited to see the growth and expansion of this 31 day challenge this year. It truly is amazing to see its growth!

In The Art of Healing by Bernie Siegel there is a quote that states, “buried within the subconscious, in the farthest corner of our memory, lies the knowledge of everything we need to know about living.” I was called to this quote while reading tonight because the first day of the new year has not been very self loving and fulfilling. While reading this quote I was brought back to my inner power and light. I was brought back again to the knowing that everything is happening for a reason.

Today started out with an act of self-love, I stayed home as I was not feeling well from my recent diagnosis of Lyme Disease. I found myself easily getting put into the same trap of feeling like I was not doing, accomplishing or “being” enough. I could feel my brain and Lyme trapping my emotions and my ability to emotionally rationalize and think. I was angry that the first day of this new year was not the way in which I wanted to feel, be or experience. I soon realized after having some comfort from a friend that my illness is going to create these ups and downs. No matter what I do I cannot change this, instead I have to be with it and access that part of knowing that I know how to get through it. As this new year comes into fruition my self-love journey is to learn how to rest, be with the Lyme disease, and get the treatment that my soul, body and being needs.

In 2014 I will do something that I have never done before. I will travel abroad to Germany to seek treatment for my Lyme disease. I will be in a place with nobody that I know for over three weeks where I know that I will have time to go inside, reflect and go through what Joseph Campbell states as the dark night of the soul. I will face fears, illness and allusions that I know will be difficult for myself. This will be one of my greatest acts of self-love this year, by going to Germany and getting the treatment that I need, and healing from my fears and challenges of not being able to do, be, give and create because of the Lyme Disease.

I anticipate that the first part of this year will be going inward to heal myself. Then I will be able to give outward and be the love warrior in the way that my higher self knows I am. I am learning new forms to be, love and accept myself in so many different forms. This is a true act of self-love, growth  and commitment. I wish you all a very wonderful year full of self-love, reflection and personal growth.

Love,
Lindsey

One Response to Dark Night of the Soul

  1. Thank you Lindsey for writing so eloquently about your current struggles and how you were able to gain insight from a friend that was helpful. A Self-Love Diet practice is to reach out and ask for support when you need it. I’m glad you benefitted from the contact with your friend. Germany sounds like a pivotal time in your life. Your diagnosis of Lymes Disease seems to enhance your motivation and necessity to take time to love yourself through the ups and downs of the symptoms. Blessings to you on your journey of healing.
