My self talk can be so cruel. Thoughts circle around in my head, and I speak to myself in a way I would never speak to another person. If a friend needed comfort I would never berate her or bombard her with negativity. I would encourage her the best I could; I would try to nurture. This year I want to treat myself the way I would a friend by continuously offering love and kindness. Whenever I start to feel the bile of self hatred rising in my throat I will close my eyes and see myself outside of my body. I will look at this friend and offer perspective. I will give myself the same courtesy I give to others. This is my intention for 2014. I will love myself the way I love all of my dear friends.
