Goals

I'm size awesome

Let me start by saying I’ve never written on any type of blog before. This is very new to me.

With the new year upon us, I’m really excited to see what’s in store for me:) I’m setting goals for myself this year rather than resolutions:)

I’ve been working very hard over the last month on my negative self talk. When I catch it happening, I’m quickly trying to correct those thoughts with something positive about that part of my body. Per Michelle’s suggestion, something my body DOES for me, that I appreciate. It really has been helpful. I’ve come to see that my body can and is doing amazing things. It deserves more appreciation than it gets…..so this is my first goal:)

My second goal is to get STRONGER!!! I really love lifting heavy weights and seeing the muscle development in my arms and shoulders. It reminds me my hard work is paying off:) I often forget lots of women cannot do pull-ups, handstand push-ups or push 100lb barbells over their heads. This makes me really proud of how far I’ve come over the past year as far as my physical strengths. I need to stay proud. I often have waves of emotion as far as my physical appearance, so again, I need to remind myself of what my body does for me, which is so freaking awesome!!

My last goal (for now) is to read more books. I need to set aside more quiet time for ME. I will be doing my best to make this happen:) Just need to find a new book!

One Response to Goals

  1. Dear Alexis,
Thanks so much for “stretching” and doing something new like writing a blog post! I trust you will be successful in reaching your goal
for appreciating what your body does for you rather than what you think it should look like. You are correct that most women cannot do pull-ups, handstand push-ups or push 100lb barbells over their heads. I know I can’t do those things! Your body strength is a reminder of what your body does for you, and also a symbol of your ability to meet your goals. I’m so pleased that your new goal is Self-Love! What an awesome ability to have and share with your children and all the people in your life!
