Handling Great Expectations

On August 16, I flew out to Austin, Texas to help my cousin move back to the Bay Area. I visited in Austin & Georgetown, Texas for a week. After Texas, we drove to Albuquerque, New Mexico and visited with family for three days. Then we drove out to LA and visited with my brother, friends and the land of Disney for two days before we headed out to San Francisco to visit with more family, then to home. During that traveling I realized something, I didn’t have to work as much as I thought I had.

While traveling, I was working mainly via my cell phone, while occasionally putting in some time via my tablet and laptop. I realized that I was able to be in the moment more, enjoy the people around me and do fun things without having that nagging feeling that I needed to be working more.

Before I left for that trip, I was overworking myself. It got to the point where working at every moment became anti-productive and I was becoming less efficient and not as happy.

Since returning from that trip, I realized that I needed to find a healthy work/life balance between those two states, which I’ve been doing a relatively good job at this past week.

I also realized that I’m balancing two mind frames, one – I want to take things slow, and I don’t want to add too much on my plate, and two – I can achieve anything I set my mind on, and I just need to jump into it. I’m not sure how to balance these two viewpoints yet. There are a few things I want to start jumping into, and instead of feeling overwhelmed, I want it to flow.

For the prompt of this month, what do I want to let go of? Negative beliefs that hold me back. The “I can’ts” in my vocabulary. What do I want to strengthen? My patience, my positivity, my gratitude and my excitement.
