Dear Love Warrior Community,
It was an amazing gift to attend the Eating Disorder Recovery Annual conference this year at the Sheraton in Petaluma, California. When I was 16 and I was struggling with anorexia nervosa I began to attend eating disorder conferences. It was there that I met Carolyn Costin.
The first time I met Carolyn I knew that somehow our paths would cross and that I was meant to work with her. It is 12 years later, I am sitting for my boards to get licensed for my marriage and family therapist licensure, And I have the opportunity to work my dream job with Carolyn Costin. I could have done this earlier, but it was not till recently that I was ready to start to begin to spread my wings and leave the comfort of a place I call home, where I have made community and have worked with loving women in my own healing journey for over seven years.
At the conference this year I felt a turning, yearning and soaring of my heart. I heard a loud voice in my head say, you will never turn back to your eating disorder. You don’t have to be afraid. You can spread your wings and fly. Those that you love will be there when you return and will be with you as you journey; maybe not physically, and in the same way, but they will be there. You are worth it and you deserve to follow your dreams. You are worth it, deserving and are wanted! You belong here. So I stretch my wings out to soar, to jump, to fly and reach for something more. It will be this year, this time, that I will move to Malibu to live my dream.
I focus on acts of self-love and was blessed to have a self-love warrior as a partner to commit to self-love and transformative healing and arts. Thank you for those who post and read.
