Good Morning Love Warriors,
I’d like to share with you the progress that I’ve made this week. The past few days have been a challenge to my commitment to make time for myself and my challenge of forgiveness. I began the week at a high point. Maya Angelou came to speak at my college and the all female acapella group I’m apart of was asked to sing a selection of songs before the assembly. Hearing Dr. Angelou speak in person was one of the highlights of my week, my year, and perhaps even my lifetime. To be in the presence of a woman who has experienced and fought back with such tenacity is both inspiring and rewarding. A piece of advice that she gave to the audience was to remember poetry. Poetry shows us the pain, suffering, joy, and sometimes anger that has come before us. Remembering that someone else has battled the same ghosts and come out the other side stronger can give you hope and incentive to keep fighting.
I’d like to leave you with a quote from Dr. Angelou
“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

My name is Hannah Coleman and I hate talking about myself. My thoughts are fair game but descriptive autobiographies are not my strong suit. That being said, here is a very short explanation of how I see myself. I’m contradictory, loud, opinionated, and infected with an awful case of Wanderlust. I dislike suede and people telling me what I can’t do. I’m currently studying Sociology and finishing my final semester as a Senior in college. I enjoy living my life with honesty and surrounded by good friends. There are a lot of things that I don’t know but what I do know is: I love exploring new places and meeting new people. I love the possibilities found in being introduced to a new song or artist. Above all, I cherish independence. For now I’m taking everything a day at a time. As Bowie said, “I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.”
