Day #5 of the Self-Love Challenge
“Be Love, Do Love” These are the words that stick with me from my yoga class this morning. I am falling in love with yoga. It was something I could never quite understand before. When I come into class it is not just an exercise in stretching and seemingly contorting my body into positions that seem quite unnatural, it is instead a spiritual experience.
Today’s class was custom made for my 31-day Self-Love Challenge. Our teacher spoke about being love and doing love. I took in this message as I focused on being love. With each movement I focused on moving in the most loving way I could for my body.
I seem to be like a magnet drawing the message of love to myself, and then spreading it outwards.
Be Love: The way I experienced this invitation today was to allow myself to feel the love within me, to notice it flowing through me, and by opening my chest through the different yoga positions I could actually feel the love in my heart expanding.
Do Love: This is an extension of being love. After each class, I feel a spiritual and physical joy that I recognize as love within me. I can’t contain it. I notice I smile more and my joy flows outwards into conversations with others about how wonderful the class was. We share how we feel and what messages we’re taking with us. As I continued to be love, I noticed a bounce to my step as I walked back to my car and an openness to meet strangers’ eyes, smile and say hello. This seemingly small action is deceiving. The smile and “hello” I shared with a stranger as we passed each other on the sidewalk today was a powerful loving moment.
Today, my continued commitment to self-love is to See Love, Hear Love and Feel Love. Although my sense of smell is the least developed, I will do my best to Smell Love!
