Today I practice self love by really focusing on being in the moment by concentrating on grounding myself. I experienced a variety of crisis today with clients and it truly was a gift being able to ground myself and be present. Look back a few years ago I know I would not have been able to do this. I realize that self love has everything to do with accepting myself when I am, and loving myself where I am at.
This evening when I was watching a basketball game I started to think about how lucky I am to have not five, but six senses. (Sight, touch, taste, smell, hearing and the sixth, intuition.) All of this came about when I heard the swooooosh of the ball in the net, and how sounds and sensations can bring back such great memories. Here is one from each:
Sound/Hearing: It’s my senior year in high school and we are playing a really hard team. It is the second half of the game, we are down by one with 1 second to go…I throw up one last shot and I watch the ball slowly drift through the air as I hear a swooooosh! ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDS EVER!
Sight: The image of a new born baby reaching out its fingers for connection and love–with such purity and curiosity.
Touch: The feeling a warm hug from a mentor of mine that gives the best hugs ever! I feel joy, love and heart that penetrates every fiber of my being.
Smell: The smell of lavender lotions that helps me fall asleep.
Taste: The taste of warm coffee on a cold morning that goes down and and coats my through with warmth—or the taste or a crisp salad on a summer day–or the taste of chocolate that melts right when I put in in my mouth—or the taste of salt on my lips after getting out of the ocean.
ANY MY FAVORITE INTUITION-The internal inner knowing that my soul and personal being is where it is meant to be moment by moment.
What are some of the moments with your senses that you delight in? Do you need more of these times? What does it look like for you?
