A Little R&R

Self-love 1.12.2012

For the past two days I have been staying at the Great Wolf Lodge with my boss Daphne and Co-Unit Director Randy! We came to participate in the American Camping Association (ACA) conference to hear from great keynote speakers and networking opportunities. The conference was full of valuable information about hiring new staff employees, keeping great staff members, promoting your camp and ways to create a positive and successful camp community!

But the best part about this conference was the location: The Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. It has an indoor water park that always stays a constant 84 degrees with huge water slides and fun for all ages! During break times we found ourselves roaming around the hotel and finding all the cool attractions like MagiQuest and a Spa for kids and adults! The keycard to get into our room is a bracelet!? This place was so cool; you can only imagine how excited a group of twenty year olds were. I mean look at this place!

As soon as the conference was over, the three of us checked into our rooms, put on our bathing suits and ran to the park! We were probably three of 20 people in the park not including all the anxiety filled lifeguards! It was so awesome to not have to wait in line for anything! Then we had dinner and enjoyed each other’s company in front of a TV before we all passed out.

This morning sleeping in was probably the best idea since sliced bread. Then we decided to play all day again in the park: best idea since the invention of the wheel.

This mini break of work and relaxation was so worth it! I bonded with my boss and Co-Unit Director for the summer while getting some well-deserved rest! I think everyone deserves a little rest & relaxation once in a while, especially after work. Why not play in a water park after a long day of work? It’s such a good way to use energy and then indulge in a giant bed until the next morning!

About jaelisawesome

I am currently a senior at Randolph College, founded as Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1891, majoring in Political Science: International Relations with minors in Spanish and Studio Art. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia I believe that I have significant contributions to make to the world of diplomacy and US foreign policy. As Student Government President I am the liaison between the students and the faculty and administration, as well as the student representative to the Board of Trustees. I also serve as the Co-President of an all female a cappella group Songshine. I am known for being involved in any and every aspect at school. Some of my passions include playing on the volleyball and tennis teams, singing in almost every group at my school, performing in my very first musical Spring Awakening in the theatre department to taking orders as a barista at the schools’ coffee shop Main Grounds. After I graduate in May 2012, I aspire to attend the Master of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in European Union Policy Studies one-year, 33-credit graduate program. The intensive, residential program is based wholly in Florence, Italy and results in an MA degree in Political Science from James Madison University. My goal is to spread the Love Warrior Community, meaning more people actively bringing self-love into their lives and into the lives of others, more people accepting and loving themselves as they are and more people empowered to follow their passions and share them with the world. The Love Warrior Community is as strong as those involved. By joining the Love Warrior Community, I have the opportunity to create my own self-love practice, bringing more love into my life and the lives of those around me. I will be able to influence a greater number of people and help them to see their value and worth beyond their bodies.
