Today I had a filled day as I practice my own self-care, my seeing a wise woman who helps me work on my own personal self-growth, followed by a long day in Napa working with clients.
As I drove home I pondered upon how lucky I am to be in a job that is so enriching. I have been a therapist for two years now professionally and today was one of those days that made some of the more tedious parts of my job seem not so bad.
I was sitting with a client and I saw the light bulb turn on in her mind. Her eyes filled with emotion and she said, “I deserve to be treated better.” This client has been working on self-esteem and loving herself and her body. It was amazing to see the pieces of the puzzle come together for her. It was a beautiful and aw inspiring moment as she reached from within to gift herself with this new found acceptance of herself and believing she deserved better, from herself and from others. It was a joy to be with her in present time and to see her growth.
I write about this as my self-love entry because my job, which I call my calling, is really an act of self-love. I have taken the horrible things I have been through and transformed myself, and I try to be a light of love and hope for others.
The greatest form of self-love has been seeking out counseling and care for myself…and taking this to help others explore the deepest parts of themselves. I am very blessed for this…and believe that there are no accidents…every moment is a learning lesson…and I choose what to do in every moment. I am grateful for my client’s and wise women in my life.
