I have just arrived home after a beautiful and exciting weekend with the lovely Jessica Cline! I needed a break from work, family and Richmond, so I traveled to the middle of nowhere in Gainesville, VA and we had so much fun! Her family, home and dogs were such a delight and embody the character of southern hospitality!
We went out to dinner, my very first winery, we stayed in to make brunch, and then we danced the night away at Auld shebeen. We met so many interesting girls and guys and both found eyes for the cutest guys in the entire bar. The next morning we ventured to DC’s flea market full of beautiful antiques and collections!
However the most exciting adventure was trying to find a parking space and noticing a Randolph-Macon Woman’s College sticker on a back window. We decided to leave a note hoping to find the alumna in the flea market or to make contact with her via email.
Jess and I were so excited we went through the flea market holding our hands out just so she could see our class rings! We were unable to find her, but as soon as I walked through the door, Jessica texted me to check my FB messages and there was a message from the alumna’s daughter wishing to make contact with us! I was so eager and enthusiastic to meet someone who I might have so many connections with because of the many traditions at our school.
Our school motto is Vita Abundantior, Live Life More Abundantly, and this weekend I did just that! I constantly think about how my future is going to look, what career I will have, how much money I want to make and where I want to live. But this weekend I just took one day at a time and experienced life as an almost college graduate. Sometimes you have to just take a step back and appreciate the simple joys in life: flirting, friendship, and fellowship!
