Tonight I have been contemplating recovery and what it has looked like for me. I am now recovered from Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa after struggling for over a decade. In the past year I have lost two people due to their anorexia and realize this evening, again, how grateful I am for my recovery. It has been a long, painful and enriching process. When I was thinking about writing about self-love this evening I kept being drawn back to the things that really helped me in my process. Here are my thoughts…

1.) Reaching out to others even when I felt like I could not trust another human being with my heart…

2.) Using art to help energetically get emotions onto paper.

3.) Using writing

4.) Being out in nature and letting it speak to me–carefully listening to what it had to say about the beauty of its creation as well as mine.

5.) Listening to my internal intuition that somehow guided me to wise and loving women in my life.

6.) Speaking the truth no matter how hard it was.

7.) Trusting that I really knew what was best for myself.

8.) Owning the fierceness and power that I had for so long been afraid of and at times still am.

9.) Listening to the inner wise women within myself.

10.) Recognizing myself as a human being not a human doing.

11.) Not being attached to the results–with myself or others.

12.) Focusing on healing and health—and telling myself I believed in me even when I doubted…

I wish all my loved ones and client’s in recovery from eating disorders love and healing…it is worth it–every second—I have chose healing and a have not looked back since.
