WWLD: What Would Love Do?
I wrote this question today on my Facebook page. My intention was to do my best to be conscious of having love be my guiding force today.
I drove to work today in the afternoon. As I was nearing my office I saw a parking space on the other side of the street. There was a driveway I could turn into and then be in position to park. I put my turn indicator on and waited as a car drove up on the opposite side of the street. The young man in the driver’s seat slowed down and asked me something. I turned off the radio so I could hear him. He repeated, “Are you turning in so you can get that parking space?”
“Yes I am.” I responded. He smiled, and said, “Go for it.” Then he pulled forward and let me turn into the driveway and into the waiting space.
What a loving thing to do! Did he read my Facebook page today? If I had been conscious in that moment I would have done more than thanked him, I would have given him the space.
He gave me more than a parking space this morning. He gave me a moment of grace. He gave me time to remember that people can be generous and loving. He also reminded me of my intention for the day.
