Dancing My Talk!

Self–Love 3/18/2011

I received a blog post from Elayne Doughty, MFT who presented at our EDRS (Eating Disorders Recovery Support) conference this past February with Barbara Birsinger. Their presentation was called “Soul Food” – An Inner Spa Experience to Nourish Your Connection to Eating, Praying and Loving. Elayne travels the world encouraging women to love themselves. She wrote about her need to make herself accountable to her own message.

This was an invitation to look at my own self–love practice. When I looked, I saw that I was doing a good job. I’ve added a daily Qigong practice to my mornings where I invite loving energy into myself. I have created Body Love lotion and cream to massage love into my body. This is where I noticed my practice had slipped.

After my Qigong and shower, I mindfully massaged my Body Love cream into my body beginning with my toes, and working all the way up my body, speaking out loud my gratitude to each and every part of me. By the time I was done, I felt warmth in my chest, peacefulness in my heart, and noticed a grin on my face. I felt centered, grounded, and “humming: with love.”

After getting dressed, I was inspired to go to my website, www.theselflovediet.com. I went to the Become a Love Warrior heading and clicked on the Music page.

I sang along with Bruno Mars, to the song, just the way you are, complete with imaginary microphone and killer dance moves as I performed for myself in my full-length mirror. My smile grew as my heart opened, and love flowed. What an awesome morning!

I discovered that Dancing my talk is much more enlivening than walking my talk!

What will you discover as your self–love journey unfolds? Will you share your experiences with all of us Love Warriors?

Blessings,

Michelle
