Self-Love: It’s Been a Great Day

Self–Love: Day 21

It’s a girl!!! I found out today that I’m going to be a grandmother to my daughter’s daughter!

The next generation is beginning in our family. I am feeling warmth in my throat, my chest expanding, and a smile on my face. It’s a feeling of deep satisfaction, contentment, and a growing joy as the reality of having a granddaughter is gradually dawning. She will be joining our family this summer.

Al and I walked this morning before the sun came out; I noticed I woke up alert and full of energy. I was telling him about my Chi Gung class and my experience of feeling the energy around me. I was in an exceptionally good mood, and as we neared the end of our walk, the realization that today was the day we would find out the gender of our grandchild came to me.

Life is good. I will do my best to model self-love to my granddaughter. I want her to grow up strong, self-assured, and aware that her value does not come from her appearance, but rather from her heart.

She will know that she is loved, lovable, and that all of her feelings are valid, and worthy of expression.

I pray that she will be blessed with health, and a sense of purpose in this life. I want her to value – being – and understand that her worth is not dependent on what she does, but rather by who she is.

Tonight my daughter and son-in-law came over and showed us the pictures from the sonograms. Our granddaughter is sucking her thumb in one photo, in another we can see her feet, the next photo shows that her legs and arms are clearly defined. There is one photo that is touching. In it I can feel her tranquility; it’s as if she’s looking into the sky of her mother’s womb. She is a gift. The love in our family is tangibly growing.

It’s been a great day.
