Life Is Good

Day 9 of the Self-Love Challenge

Life is good, and it’s even better when consciously living from the lens of Self-Love.

I went out to dinner tonight to celebrate the birthday of one of my nieces, and the fact that she just found out that she’s pregnant!

My oldest daughter and she are very close, and will be on this pregnancy journey for the first time together.

My son surprised us by inviting another niece to the restaurant who is also pregnant and due in April. It was great to see her.

Sitting at the table looking at all the smiling faces, listening to the banter, watching my niece open her gifts, and singing along with the staff as they put a cowgirl hat on her head and brought a cake brightly lit by candles, was heaven. The laughter was contagious as jokes were being made about possible baby names.

This is an example of Self-Love for me, I’ll tell you why. I enjoyed the food, but it was not the focus of the evening. When I was an active compulsive over-eater, I would have been thinking about the food, either by focusing on what I couldn’t have if I was on a diet, or engulfing myself in all the choices, and eating till I was stuffed if I wasn’t on a diet.

Tonight, some of the people at the table were complaining of being too full. I was not one of them. I’ve learned to listen to my body. I can now eat when I’m hungry, and stop when I’m satisfied. What a gift I’ve given myself!

Tonight I was filled with love, and it feels very comfortable.
